Building Your Self Confidence
Positive thoughts can help build your self-confidence. Whether you believe you are worthy of respect from others or whether you believe in yourself, sometimes your inner critic plants seeds of doubt in your mind. Here are some tips on how to quiet that little voice in your head:
Think Positive Thoughts: In a 2016 Kings College Report, researchers identified that positive thinking reduced anxiety and worry. Try to identify when you are talking negatively to yourself. In the beginning, this may be difficult. Negative thoughts can come fast and unexpectedly. Try to change these negative thoughts to positive ones. Use kind words. Talk to yourself like you would talk to a friend.
Be Grateful: Being thankful and appreciating what you have in life helps you to focus on the positives. Each night write down a list of three things that happened to you during the day that you were grateful for or that made you happy. It could be as simple as getting a seat during your morning commute, a stranger complements your wardrobe or a friend asking you to dinner. Be happy for what you have; do not focus on what is missing from your life.
Can Do Attitude: Focus on things that you can control. Stress comes from the way you respond to things, not life itself. Adjust your attitude. Change your perspective. Try to see the other person’s point of view. “Don’t let your happiness be controlled by something that you cannot control” - Unknown
